Multiple automated tests

Updates are installed in the clone and site functionality is tested automatically across a range of tests. This makes sure nothing in WordPress, the theme, or any plugin breaks because of the update.
If something fails
Problem updates are held back
If the tests reveal a problem and your site would break, the update is postponed - it's never deployed broken. It stays on hold until the plugin or theme's developer ships a compatible version.
Only once everything works
Updates go live on production

What Smart Updates doesn't support
- WordPress Multisite installations
- Paid plugins whose developer has disabled automatic updates
If you use paid plugins, they need to be updated following the plugin vendor's own instructions. Even so, Smart Updates keeps WordPress secure and up to date very effectively, since it automatically updates and function-tests the vast majority of all your plugins.
